CALISTHENICS-

THE ARTISTIC SPORT

Calisthenics is a UNIQUELY AUSTRALIAN SPORT. One of the fastest growing sports in Australia. Calisthenics is a combination of controlled exercises and gymnastics......apparata technique with rods and clubs.... marching simplified ballet, folk and modern dance and singing – all choregraphed to music. This encourages confidence, co-ordination and friendship in a TEAM environment.

THE BENEFITS

While the sport is spectacular to watch, it has much to offer the students.  From an early age the girls develop self discipline, teamwork and high self esteem. Physical fitness, and a healthy lifestyle, confidence and loyalty, are all benefits of Calisthenics.

MY HISTORY

I would like to introduce myself, Penny Cleary and I am in my 30th year of coaching Calithenics in the North East region.

I pride myself on running family orientated clubs with a caring and nurturing leadership group running our Academy and College.

I began in Rutherglen with my mother, Beverley Gatliff in 1986.  We had a class in Corowa, New South Wales then grew with classes in Rutherglen, Yarrawonga and Corowa and North East Border Calisthenic College was born.  Along with my mum, my sister Di Fiedler joined the teaching team and my 2 daughters Kristy and Becky were both students and coaches at the College and Academy.

I moved to Wodonga in 1999 where Wodonga Academy began which was followed by adding our sister club Kalani College in 2008.

Our concert is open to the public and is held on Sunday  9th November at The Cube, Wodonga at 5pm.

If you would like to learn more about Calisthenics contact me by e-mail or phone.

Club Song

Sung to AFL Brisbane Lions theme song

We are the pride of border town,

We are Wodonga, white and blue

We will always fight for victory,

North East Border girls of old.

All for one, and one for all

We will answer to the call.

Go Wodonga, Go Wodonga,

We’ll ‘cruise’ across the floor.

You’ll hear our mighty roar.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr
